The Story

Freetown's First 1v1 League

The Duel SL was built to give Sierra Leonean hoopers a real stage no team politics, no excuses, just two players and one basket. It runs in three tiers: an open Showcase, a monthly Series bracket of 16 players, and a Championship day for the top four. First season tips off in 2026.

Francis Sesay "Processor" is the Founder and Creative Director of The Duel SL, Sierra Leone’s premier one-on-one basketball league. A sports, lifestyle, and documentary photographer with more than six years of professional experience, Francis combines visual storytelling with a deep understanding of basketball. A former professional basketball player in the Sierra Leone Basketball League, Francis brings firsthand experience of the game to his work. He currently serves as Media Officer for the Sierra Leone Basketball Federation, where he leads visual coverage of major basketball events, national teams, players, and international partners. Through The Duel SL, Francis is building a platform that celebrates individual talent, raises the standard of basketball entertainment, and gives Sierra Leonean athletes a stage worthy of their ability.

ALEX SAHR KANGASU

CO-FOUNDER · LEAGUE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Alex Kangasu is the Co-Founder and League Operations Manager of The Duel SL, responsible for turning the league’s vision into a professionally run competition. He oversees event operations, player coordination, scheduling, venues, officiating, and game-day execution. A qualified basketball coach and FIBA-certified referee, Alex brings a unique combination of coaching knowledge, officiating experience, and operational leadership. His understanding of the game from multiple perspectives helps maintain high standards both on and off the court. As co-founder, Alex is focused on building strong systems and structures that allow The Duel SL to grow into a leading basketball platform in Sierra Leone and beyond.
